The High Pressure Regulation Unit (HPRU) is used to ensure safe and robust hydrogen feed to the low pressure line of fuel cells or internal combustion engines (PFI and DI) of stationary and mobile deployed H2 applications. Designed for CGH2 applications with system pressures of 350 and 700 bar, its active pressure control enables the free adjustment of the outlet pressure during operation in a pressure range of 0 – 75 bar.
Functionality
The outlet pressure is changed via the system's Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and can be implemented without any mechanical changes to the pressure regulator, thus realizing a load-dependent outlet pressure. The active pressure control enables inlet pressure fluctuations and dynamic load fluctuations of the consumer under varying temperatures to be compensated and a very high control quality to be maintained, while simultaneously providing the possibility to regulate the system in advance for faster response times.
Design
With its optimized modular design, it enables the compliance of individual customer requirements with the possibility to use different sensor options, optimized regarding pressure range and signal processing. For installing the HPRU, only an installation space of approx. 286 mm × 182 mm × 72 mm is required. Inlet and outlet are designed for typical tube geometries of 6 mm / ¼” and 10 – 12mm / ½” made of 316L or PPH2.
Specialist in Hydrogen Systems. As a Tier-One supplier for various industries Poppe + Potthoff designs and manufactures H2 supply systems for fuel cells, H2-combustion engines and dual fuel engines, from e.g. rails, high pressure lines, tubes, valves to hydrogen distributors. Our H2 Supply System solutions enable hydrogen pressures up to 700 bar in both mobile and industry applications. Special testing machines for burst and function testing or validating the hydrostatic strength of media carrying components complement our portfolio.
