The 8YS Fuel Cell Power Converter is a series of power converters designed to help fuel cells with low DC output voltage deliver power to the grid. It uses a two-stage approach, including a DC/AC AFE converter, an intermediate DC line (DC-LINK), and multiple resonant DC/DC converters to exchange energy between the fuel cell input and the DC-LINK. This system allows the fuel cell power to be sent to the grid with high flexibility, efficiency, and safety. The converters are modular, customizable, and provide galvanic isolation between the fuel cell and the DC-LINK. An example system includes a 30kW fuel cell power converter using four DC/DC isolated converters (each at 7.5kW) and one DC/AC AFE inverter to boost the fuel cell output from 120VDC to the AC grid at 400VAC. The system is designed for various power levels, with models like 8YC30, 8YC100, 8YC200, and 8YC500, each offering different rated power, voltage, and current specifications.

Use Cases

  • Medium-scale grid-connected fuel cell systems (~100kVA).
  • Voltage boosting and galvanic isolation.

Capabilities

  • Rated power: 100kVA.
  • Maximum DC input power: 105kW.
  • Nominal AC current: 145A.
  • THD < 3%.
