Climatic PEM Fuel Cell System Testing — up to 250 kW

  • This test bench is a climatic PEM fuel cell system test rig located in the Basque Country, Spain. Designed for complete Balance of Plant (BoP) system testing up to 250 kW, it includes a 22 m³ walk-in climatic chamber (−40 °C to +90 °C with humidity control) — one of the few European facilities capable of full system testing at this power level under climatic conditions.
  • This bench is the right choice for system integrators, OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers who need to prove a complete fuel cell powertrain works under real-world ambient extremes — from arctic cold-starts to high-humidity hot climates.

What Can Be Tested

  • Performance & Functional Testing
    • Full system efficiency under climatic conditions
    • Cold-start performance (down to −40 °C)
    • Hot ambient operation (up to +90 °C)
    • Dynamic mission profiles with climatic overlay
    • BoP integration and interaction testing
    • Thermal management system characterization
  • Durability & Endurance Testing
    • Power thermal cycle endurance (PTCE) with climatic control
    • High and low temperature operating endurance
    • High temperature + humidity combined stress
    • Thermal humidity cycling (THC) in the climatic chamber
    • Thermal shock testing between temperature extremes
    • Full system ageing and degradation assessment
