Dual Stage Venting Solutions - Dual Stage Jet

  • The Dual Stage Jet from Donaldson is a dual-stage battery venting solution engineered to provide pressure equalization and ingress protection during normal operating conditions, while enabling rapid degassing during abnormal pressure events.
  • During standard operation, the vent maintains stable internal battery pack pressure through controlled airflow. I
  • f internal pack pressure exceeds the typical opening pressure of 115 mbar, the cap and poppet jettison, enabling rapid degassing of approximately 100 liters/second at 100 mbar. This rapid venting capability helps mitigate risks associated with thermal runaway and protects battery pack integrity.
  • The vent incorporates Tetratex® ePTFE membrane technology with hydrophobic and oleophobic properties to protect against water, dust, and contaminants while maintaining airflow.
  • The design also features multiple sealing and mounting elements, including a threaded ISO-6149 interface and O-ring sealing, to ensure reliable integration into battery pack housings.

Key features

  • Proven gravel-impact durability for harsh-duty environments, validated to ISO 20567-1:2017
  • Tetratex® ePTFE membrane with hydrophobic and oleophobic properties for protection against water, dirt, and contaminants
  • Pressure equalization with minimum airflow of 97 L/hour at 10 mbar during normal operation
  • Burst vent function providing rapid pressure relief of 25 L/s at 300 mbar to maintain battery pack integrity
  • Protective cap design that shields the membrane from spray and jettisons during thermal runaway
  • Poppet mechanism securing the membrane and protecting it from spray, also designed to jettison during thermal runaway
  • Custom sealing system that prevents dust and water ingress into the battery pack
  • Robust body design enabling adjustable release pressure and reliable operation
  • ISO-6149 threaded interface with optional bayonet mounting for flexible integration
  • Integrated O-ring sealing for reliable sealing against the battery pack wall
