The EBZ ALKALINE ELECTROLYZER SYSTEM is a pressurized alkaline electrolyzer system designed for cost-effective green hydrogen production on an industrial scale. It offers high hydrogen output, with a rated power of 1 MW and hydrogen output up to 200 Nm³/h per system. The system ensures high hydrogen purity through dedicated lye circuits on both H₂ and O₂ sides. It supports high-pressure electrolysis at 30 bar(g), which boosts efficiency and reduces downstream compression costs. The system has a high dynamic range, enabling independent stack operation with a 10-100% load range. Heat recovery is possible, and the system is designed for grid-supportive operation, reaching 100% load from standby within seconds. It is compliant with EU Hydrogen Bank regulations and is produced and assembled in Germany, ensuring quality, supply chain security, and long-term spare parts availability. The system is scalable and can be configured as containerized solutions, with standard 1 MW systems delivered in two 20-ft containers or one 40-ft container. It is developed in collaboration with the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) and supported by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism, as well as the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Use Cases

  • Industrial-scale green hydrogen production
  • Grid-supportive hydrogen production systems
  • Large-scale hydrogen production facilities

Capabilities

  • Produces hydrogen at 30 bar(g), reducing downstream compression requirements.

EBZ SysTec Gmbh EBZ SysTec GmbH, part of the EBZ Group (founded 1921, headquartered in Ravensburg, Germany, with over 1,000 employees and €50 million+ in sales), designs, manufactures, and commissions alkaline pressure electrolysis systems for industrial-scale green hydrogen production, leveraging decades of toolmaking and automotive series-production expertise. The company's alkaline electrolysis stack, scientifically developed over more than ten years at the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), operates under pressure with a rated electrical output of up to 0.5 MW and hydrogen output up to 100 Nm³/h per stack, using highly functional catalytically active coatings for high energy efficiency. EBZ SysTec's pressurized alkaline electrolysis systems, offered as containerized turnkey solutions, produce hydrogen at 30 bar(g) to reduce downstream compression needs, are TÜV Süd-certified to the highest safety standards, feature modular maintainable design, and support recoatable electrodes for a second life cycle. The company successfully completed the Megastack-BW funding project at ZSW Stuttgart, developing the first multi-MW class electrolyzer stack 'Made in Baden-Württemberg,' and maintains operations in India (EBZ SysTec India Pvt.) as well as an automotive engineering subsidiary (EBZ SysTec, Inc.) in McCalla, Alabama.
