HXS-30 — a 30 kW stack architecture grounded in measured 5-cell evidence

A deliberate step from large-area short-stack validation to a 46-cell pilot design.

HXS-30 scales HydroXpand's nickel-based AEM stack platform to an approximately 521 cm² reference active area. The 5-cell short stack is available now; the 46-cell, 30 kW full stack is scheduled for availability in Q4 2026.

01 — Know exactly what is available

Available now 5-cell short stack for large-area validation and integration development.
Q4 2026 46-cell, 30 kW full stack planned for purchase after the current development programme.
Product boundary Stack hardware for customer-system integration, not a turnkey 30 kW electrolyser system.

02 — Measured on the 5-cell short stack

i-V reference 1.634 V/cell at 360 A.
Measured efficiency 90.7% HHV, approximately 43 kWh/kg-H₂, on the 5-cell configuration.
Continuous run 585 h · 330 A · 60 °C · electrolyte flow 4 L/min.
Cell-to-cell reference 1.615–1.630 V across five cells at 360 A.

03 — The 46-cell design envelope

Hydrogen production 7,500 L/h, approximately 15 kg/day (design).
Rated input 80 V · 360 A · 28.8 kW DC; 30 kW class.
Design efficiency 84% HHV, approximately 47 kWh/kg-H₂.
Hydrogen pressure Up to 10 barg on the H₂ side.
Water consumption 6.5 L/h at 360 A design reference.
Size / weight 570 × 400 × 330 mm / 120 kg.

04 — Integration stays visible

HydroXpand supply HXS-30 stack with defined DC, electrolyte and gas interfaces.
Customer system Power conversion, electrolyte circulation and temperature control, gas and moisture handling, supervisory control and site safety.
Integration review Output, duty cycle, pressure, cooling, gas treatment and interfaces are reviewed before quotation.

05 — Where HXS-30 fits best

  • Large-area MEA and short-stack validation
  • 30 kW-class balance-of-plant development
  • Industrial equipment integration and demonstration projects
  • Scale-up programmes that need measured milestones before a full-stack build

06 — Build the RFQ around the validation gate

For a useful technical and commercial response, include:

  • Required output, cell configuration and development stage
  • DC power, electrolyte circulation and cooling concept
  • Pressure, gas treatment and safety architecture
  • Duty cycle, operating conditions and acceptance tests
  • Quantity, validation milestones and delivery schedule

Measured and designed values are intentionally separated. HydroXpand will identify which evidence applies to the proposed configuration before quotation.

Development note: 5-cell results are measured under the stated conditions. The 46-cell output, efficiency, pressure and physical values are design specifications pending full-stack validation.

HydroXpand Inc.

HydroXpand Inc. is a South Korean deep-tech company that develops and manufactures Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis (AEMWE) electrodes, cells, stacks, and integrated systems. Founded in 2023 by three KAIST PhDs, we work across catalysts, electrodes, stack architecture, balance-of-plant, and control software to reduce both upfront and lifecycle costs for clean hydrogen production.

Our current portfolio includes iridium-free anodes, low-PGM cathodes, single-cell and short-stack hardware, the HXS-2 2 kW stack, and the HXB-V1 2 kW integrated system. The HXS-30 30 kW pilot stack is under development and validation. HydroXpand products have been supplied to more than 50 customers across 10 countries, and our technology portfolio includes nine patents. The HXB-V1 is supported by a CE Declaration of Conformity.

Our stack architecture is designed so that the durable hardware can be reused while the MEA is replaced, reducing maintenance cost and material waste. Customers can start with laboratory or pilot-scale equipment today and expand through a modular development roadmap toward larger industrial systems.
