The development of efficient and cost-effective water electrolysis technologies requires highly active and durable electrocatalysts while reducing the dependence on scarce and expensive precious metals.

Conventional OER catalysts are typically based on platinum group metals (PGMs), particularly Iridium and Ruthenium, which represent a major contribution to catalyst cost and material criticality.

Key features

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity of K-20 was evaluated by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV).

K-20 exhibits an overpotential of 296 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm⁻², indicating high catalytic activity toward the OER under alkaline conditions.

The corresponding Tafel analysis gives a slope of 47.3 mV dec⁻¹ (R² = 0.992), indicating favorable OER kinetics.
