Giner Labs Static Vapor Feed Electrolyzer (SVFE) is a proton-exchange-membrane electrolysis cell stack that converts water into low-humidity, high-purity gaseous hydrogen and oxygen. Unlike conventional electrolyzers, the SVFE does not circulate liquid water to either electrode and instead uses Giner's Water Management Membrane (WaMM™) to transport water into the hydrogen compartment through a concentration gradient. The dead-ended water-feed and bipolar-stack configuration removes the need for phase separators at the oxygen and hydrogen outlets and eliminates the water-delivery pump. Giner reports more than 43,000 hours of continuous day/night cycling on a single test article, supporting applications where compactness, reliability and reduced balance-of-plant complexity are important.

Use Cases

  • Hydrogen and oxygen generation
  • Aerospace electrolysis systems
  • Life-support oxygen production
