Giner Labs High-Pressure Oxygen Generating Electrolyzer is a PEM electrolyzer stack developed for high-differential-pressure water electrolysis in advanced life-support applications. The stack is designed to produce oxygen at pressures up to 3,600 psi without mechanical compression while discharging hydrogen at close to ambient pressure. A liquid cathode-feed configuration produces oxygen in a non-saturated state to simplify downstream processing, and Giner reports only ppm levels of oxygen in the product hydrogen stream during stable high-differential-pressure operation. More than 10,000 hours of cumulative operation have been demonstrated on two prototype stacks, and a 50-cell stack has been successfully operated at 2,000 psi.
