Electric Heater for Hydrogen Applications - TUTCO
- Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) and Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOECs) are high-temperature electrochemical systems that use solid oxide ceramics as electrolytes.
- SOFCs convert fuels like hydrogen or natural gas into electricity, while SOECs do the reverse—using electricity to split water or CO₂ into hydrogen or syngas, making them ideal for green hydrogen production and energy storage.
- Both systems rely on similar materials and operating principles and require gases to be heated to high temperatures.
- While this heating is typically done using recovered heat in real-world setups, electric heaters are essential during start-up and in early-stage development when heat recovery isn’t yet in place. These heaters are usually custom-built to be compact, efficient, and easy to maintain.
