  • Robust impact-proof aluminum die-cast housing for outdoor use, IP67
  • Differential-pressure measuring principle

Add to compare

The VD 550 is a robust differential-pressure flow sensor for wet compressed air and gases. It measures flow, total consumption, temperature, and pressure, with measuring ranges of 2–224 m/s or 600 m/s for compressed air and 0.04–500 mbar differential pressure for gases. It is suitable for wet air, technical gases, mixed gases such as natural gas/H2, LPG, propane, and CO2, and the selectable gas-type list includes hydrogen (H2). The sensor supports medium temperatures from −30 to +180 °C, operating pressure from −1 to +100 bar(g), ambient temperature from −20 to +70 °C, and has an IP67 aluminum die-cast housing. It provides 4–20 mA, pulse output, and RS 485 Modbus-RTU, with optional Ethernet, PoE, M-Bus, HART, and IO-Link interfaces.

Use Cases

  • Measurement of compressor capacity
  • Efficiency measurement of compressed air systems
  • Flow measurement in technical gases
  • Flow measurement in mixed gases, including natural gas/H2 mixtures
  • Flow measurement for LPG, propane, CO2, and selectable hydrogen gas configurations

Capabilities

  • Measures gas velocity using differential pressure/dynamic pressure at the sensor tip
  • Determines flow using the measured pressure and pipe diameter
  • Measures temperature and absolute pressure for density calculation across different gases, temperatures, and pressures
  • Supports RS 485 Modbus-RTU communication as standard
  • Optional interfaces include Ethernet Modbus/TCP, Ethernet PoE, M-Bus, HART, and IO-Link
  • Supports real-gas calibration in selected gas types as an order option
